Joe Martinez joined the BallparkDJ team in February of 2021 as our 7th ballpark voice and the 1st with a background in UFC and boxing rings.

Martinez graduated from California State University with a communications degree. In 1996 he turned pro becoming both the public address announcer for the Lake Elsinore Storm Minor League Baseball team (a San Diego Padres affiliate) and several Cal State Fullerton athletic programs. In 2017, after retiring from the Storm, he made the move from Orange County, CA to North Georgia where he continued to build his notoriety.  His impressive resume includes his current positions as the main ring announcer for Golden Boy Boxing which he has held since 2011, and an Octagon announcer for the UFC since 2007. He has announced an impressive 100+ events under the Zuffa banner. In 2018 Martinez partnered with the Professional Fighters League PFL signing on to handle MC duties for the organization’s inaugural season. His high-level, multi-platform talent was showcased even further when he announced the GGG vs. Canelo Alvarez HBO pay-per-view event that took place in September of 2018. The fight scored a whopping 1.1 million PPV buys. That same year Martinez reached an even higher level of recognition hired twice as ring Announcer for the DirecTV MMA drama “Kingdom.” That same year, he secured the same type of role for the Korean movie “Divine Fury.” Additionally, he was the cage announcer for the 3rd and final Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz fight.

His other accomplishments include features in 2006 and 2007 on Sony Playstation’s MLB ‘The Show’, a commercial appearance for the highly popular AMP Energy Drink, and two tours as the announcer for the Harlem Globetrotters. In 2000 he had the honor of accompanying the US Olympic softball team as they headed for the Australia Summer Olympics. He is a Christian minister and co-founder of Anchor of Hope Ministries, as well as a congregate of the Free Chapel (Gainesville, GA). Martinez is married with four children.
