ClassroomDJ
BallparkDJ for Education

Professional Learning Session

We are always seeking new settings and applications for BallparkDJ. What application and what setting could be more important than education in the classroom. This creative instructional coach from Walnut Grove Elementary in Walton County, Georgia explains how she has incorporated BallparkDJ as an educational strategy. Haley Herrick shared with us the following message…

Recently, Walton County School District has been focusing on professional learning practices that are highly engaging for learners. One strategy we have shared during professional learning sessions is a twist on a old favorite, The Hot Potato! We have used BallparkDJ to play this game during these sessions and have shared the app with our teachers with lots of success!

The game has been used to review for tests, work on vocabulary, play true-false, etc. But using the BallparkDJ app has been a lifesaver, timesaver, and success!

In the attached video, you’ll see an envelope (the hot potato) being passed. When the music stops, the teacher/student left holding it has to pull a strip from it and read and answer the question. So much fun added to what could be a boring activity! Just imagine this being used with students...which is the goal of professional learning! This video was taken during a professional learning session for teachers from all schools and at levels in our district.

We are so pleased to be able to find an educational use for this app! In addition to how I’ve used it in PL, I have been able to use it during school activities like Family Bingo Night and our rewards dances. The possibilities are endless! And to think it all started with me using it on the ball field!

Thank you for this program and for helping us make good use of our time!
