When it comes to bringing energy, excitement, and a big-event atmosphere to sports, few voices do it better than Joe Martinez. Known to millions of fight fans for his electrifying introductions in the UFC Octagon and championship boxing rings, Joe brings that same unmistakable voice and larger-than-life enthusiasm to BallparkDJ.
Joe joined the BallparkDJ announcing team in February 2021, becoming our first professional voice with a background in UFC and championship boxing. Now, young athletes everywhere can hear their names introduced with the same excitement Joe brings to some of the biggest events in combat sports.
A Voice Heard Around the World
Joe has been a familiar voice in professional mixed martial arts since 2007, announcing more than 100 events under the UFC's former parent company, Zuffa, and celebrating his 100th UFC event in June 2024. He also served as a longtime ring announcer for Golden Boy Promotions, one of the biggest names in professional boxing, beginning in 2011. In December 2025, Joe took an exciting new step in his career, leaving Golden Boy to sign an exclusive deal as the ring announcer for Zuffa Boxing, further cementing his reputation as one of the premier voices in combat sports.
His impressive résumé includes announcing the blockbuster 2018 rematch between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady "GGG" Golovkin, an HBO pay-per-view event that attracted approximately 1.1 million buys. He also served as an announcer for the Professional Fighters League's inaugural season and the highly anticipated third showdown between MMA legends Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz.
From Baseball Diamonds to Championship Fights
Long before stepping into the Octagon, Joe was making his mark on the baseball diamond. A graduate of California State University, Fullerton, he began his professional announcing career in 1996 as the public address announcer for the Lake Elsinore Storm, a Minor League Baseball affiliate of the San Diego Padres.
Over the years, his talents have taken him well beyond baseball and combat sports. Joe has toured with the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters, accompanied the U.S. Olympic softball team leading up to the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and even lent his voice to Sony PlayStation's popular MLB The Show video games.
His distinctive voice and on-camera presence have also earned him appearances in television, film, and advertising.

Joe Martinez joined the BallparkDJ team in February of 2021 as our 7th ballpark voice and the 1st with a background in UFC and boxing rings.
Martinez graduated from California State University with a communications degree. In 1996 he turned pro becoming both the public address announcer for the Lake Elsinore Storm Minor League Baseball team (a San Diego Padres affiliate) and several Cal State Fullerton athletic programs. In 2017, after retiring from the Storm, he made the move from Orange County, CA to North Georgia where he continued to build his notoriety. His impressive resume includes his current positions as the main ring announcer for Golden Boy Boxing which he has held since 2011, and an Octagon announcer for the UFC since 2007. He has announced an impressive 100+ events under the Zuffa banner and in June 2024 announced his 100th UFC event. In 2018 Martinez partnered with the Professional Fighters League PFL signing on to handle MC duties for the organization’s inaugural season. His high-level, multi-platform talent was showcased even further when he announced the GGG vs. Canelo Alvarez HBO pay-per-view event that took place in September of 2018. The fight scored a whopping 1.1 million PPV buys. That same year Martinez reached an even higher level of recognition hired twice as ring Announcer for the DirecTV MMA drama “Kingdom.” That same year, he secured the same type of role for the Korean movie “Divine Fury.” Additionally, he was the cage announcer for the 3rd and final Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz fight.
His other accomplishments include features in 2006 and 2007 on Sony Playstation’s MLB ‘The Show’, a commercial appearance for the highly popular AMP Energy Drink, and two tours as the announcer for the Harlem Globetrotters. In 2000 he had the honor of accompanying the US Olympic softball team as they headed for the Australia Summer Olympics. He is a Christian minister and co-founder of Anchor of Hope Ministries, as well as a congregate of the Free Chapel (Gainesville, GA). Martinez is married with four children.
