How do Android users obtain music which can be used in BallparkDJ? Below we go into detail on the various options…
If someone has shared a team with you, this page explains how to easily sync up music when on shared teams.
BallparkDJ for Android supports two types of music sources:
BallparkDJ Clips - Our 15 royalty‑free DJ Clips, included with the app. BallparkDJ comes with over 15 hard-driving royalty-free music clips that can be used with any player at no charge. In the Setup Music screen, simply click on the BallparkDJ Clips button, choose your desired music clip, and then customize the start offset and duration along with the offset with the voice intro.
External Audio files that you already own and have stored on your device.
At this time, BallparkDJ for Android does not support any streaming music services (such as Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, etc.).
Some users choose to use a third‑party tool called Simple Song Collector to obtain audio files. BallparkDJ does not provide, maintain, or endorse Simple Song Collector, and we do not condone the use of unlicensed or copyrighted music. If you choose to use external audio, please ensure you have the legal rights to do so.
Other Possible Options…
Amazon Music
Music can be purchased and downloaded thru Amazon Music on your PC and then moved to your Android device via USB, email, Dropbox, Skype, etc. When searching for songs, you might want to add “mp3” to end of your search text to help limit the results to just songs. This solution will cost about 1.29 per song. The songs must be purchased and downloaded as BallparkDJ does not support Amazon Music subscription service, nor any music subscription service on Android.
Zedge Ringtones
Zedge is a nice solution that provides music and remixes that work great for BallparkDJ walk-up introductions, many of them for free. Zedge is an app that is designed to provide ringtones but many of those ringtones are songs and remixes that work really well and can be accessed in BallparkDJ. Just download Zedge to your Android device (free), navigate to the Ringtones section. You can then search for a specific keyword or navigate to categories like Rock, Pop, or Hip-Hop which work well. Once you locate a ringtone you’d like to use in BallparkDJ, simply click the vertical ellipse ⋮ at upper right and click Download.
Back in the BallparkDJ app, you can browse for the downloaded ringtone by choosing Select Track in the Edit Music screen and then going to: Android > Data > net.zedge.android > files > zedge > ringtone. The Android folder is located inside the top level “Pixel” folder on my Android phone but that may be different on your device and reflect the type of phone you’re using. Yes, it does seem you now have to dig deeper to get to these Zedge ringtones. I’m not sure why they quit putting it inside a top level “Zedge” folder. The good news is, once you browse for and select the first ringtone in this location, the next time you Select Track it will return to that folder so you can quickly select subsequent ringtones. If anyone has information on how to simplify this process, please email to support@ballparkdj.com
From there you can fine tune the starting position, duration, overlap, and relative volume with the professional introductions. You will even find sound effects and organ music (search for “Baseball Organ”).
Apple Music (NO. On Indefinite Hold)
We have devoted a great deal of resources towards supporting Apple Music on Android. At this point, we have done all we can do and are patiently waiting on Apple to produce a new version of their Apple MusicKit (Android) SDK to fix the array of issues that exist with current SDK. Until this happens, Apple Music simply does not work well enough with BallparkDJ to warrant releasing a version which supports Apple Music. We will be monitoring any updates from Apple and will certainly do what we need to do to support Apple Music on Android when we are able. We understand the importance of making this happen.
Subscription Services: Spotify, Amazon Music, Google Play Music (NO. Monitoring)
Similar to Apple Music, access to these subscriptions services is made extremely difficult if not impossible for DJ apps like BallparkDJ. Spotify simply doesn’t allow DJ apps access to their music currently. We will continue to monitor the situation on each of these front and proceed with supporting these subscription services when it makes sense. Simply exploring the possibility can be a very expensive venture.
