2-Tap, 2-Tap+, and 2-Tap++ Play vs 1-Tap Play Modes

2-Tap mode now has the advantages of preventing accidental taps, confirmation of proper selection, eliminating clipping of intros (by waking up speaker), and now minimizing the delay during playback.

A 2-Tap+ mode was implement to help fix some issues where the beginning of the voice introduction would sometimes get clipped off when playing over certain Bluetooth speakers (including ION Pathfinder). So “Now Batting, Number 17, Jordan Payne” would get clipped and you might only hear “17, Jordan Payne”. In version 16.7, a 2-Tap++ mode was added which takes a more aggressive approach to wake up some speakers which would not respond to 2-Tap+ mode.

At the bottom left of each team you will see a 2-Tap /2-Tap+/ 1-Tap toggle button. Tapping on 2-Tap will toggle to 2-Tap+, tapping on 2-Tap+ will toggle to 1-Tap Play mode and tapping on 1-Tap Play will toggle to 2-Tap Play mode.

2-Tap Play, as the name implies, requires a 2nd Tap in order to play each player. The first tap is on the players name you wish to Play. This will bring up a box which includes a large green PLAY button, and also provides the name of the player which is about to be played when the PLAY button is tapped. A Cancel button is also available to dismiss the PLAY box.

2-Tap+ Play, will appear identical to 2-Tap mode, but uses a more aggressive approach to awaken/prime certain Bluetooth speakers from their sleep mode. If you are having an issue with the beginning of your intros getting clipped off, please try 2-Tap+ mode. You may discover that you need to wait a couple seconds between taps.

2-Tap++ Play, again works just as 2-Tap and 2-Tap+, but uses a even more aggressive approach to awaken/prime certain Bluetooth speakers from their sleep mode that did not respond to 2-Tap+ mode.

IF 2-Tap+ and 2-Tap++ do NOT solve your clipping issues, watch this video: https://vimeo.com/811283172
The video demonstrates another approach of starting the music before the voice in your intros. Connecting your device to your speaker with an aux cord will also resolve the clipping issue (by avoiding Bluetooth).

These 2-Tap Play modes have several advantages…

  • Confirmation Step - 2-Tap helps ensure you tapped the correct player before playing it over the speaker.

  • Accidental Tap Prevention- Protecting against accidental tapping of a player during a game at awkward moments.

  • Prevents Clipping - A number of users have reported delay/clipping issues when playing over certain Bluetooth speakers. These reports include a delay between tapping the player and the audio beginning, as well as clipping off (skipping) of the first part of the intro. These 2-Tap methods allows us to queue up the players audio in a way that eliminates this delay/clipping, with 2-Tap+ using a more aggressive approach.

  • Reduce Delay - We have improved the 2-Tap process to help reduce and minimize the playback delay when tapping the play button. After tapping the player, BallparkDJ immediately begins doing any work it possibly can (such as pre-loading the music and applying Voice Effects) so that once the PLAY button is tapped with the 2nd tap, everything is ready to go and the delay from that point is minimized. The PLAY button will show a "Loading" message at the bottom right while the pre-loading process is active.
